The 1958 Alaska House of Representatives election was held on November 26, 1958, in Alaska's last days as a territory to elect members of the 1st Alaska State Legislature. All 40 seats of the House were up for election, with 33 seats being won by Democrats, one by Independent Democrat Harold Z. Hansen, five by Republicans, and one by political independent and future Republican Governor Jay S. Hammond.[1]
Warren A. Taylor from Fairbanks was elected House speaker on January 26, 1959, three weeks after Alaska became the 49th state.[2]
