Julia Denise Lee^[1] (born 2002), better known by her stage name Denise Julia, is a Filipino singer-songwriter and music producer. Fans of her music have nicknamed her the "Patron Saint of Situationships" due to the lyrical content of her songs.^[2][3]

Julia was born in 2002. She grew up in Tondo in the Philippines.^[4] She is a student of International Relations at Ateneo de Manila University.^[1]

In June 2022, Julia stated that she did produce beats, but was still learning. At the time, she only had one song that featured her own production.^[5] Julia now produces her own songs, as well as other artists'. She says that writing lyrics used to be her favorite aspect of creating a song, but it is now production.^[6][7]

Julia is openly pansexual.^[8] In a Pride Month interview with Billboard Philippines, she confirmed that she has felt the pressure to come out "again and again." She said that she hopes to normalize "girly, femme" representation among queer women.^[9]

Julia cites 1990s R&B artists such as Beyoncé, Aaliyah, and Tamia as inspirations, as well as newer acts like Ariana Grande, Summer Walker, and SZA.^[10]

Writing for L'Officiel Philippines, Tin Dabbay described Julia's voice as "silky."^[4] Januar Junior Aguja of The Freeman Cebu called Julia a "quadruple threat," praising her "great" singing voice, stage presence, candid lyrics about dating both men and women, and production work on her own songs.^[7] According to Julia, she sometimes adds up to 200 vocal layers in a single song.^[6]

She has said that she considers Denise to be her alter ego, as a coping mechanism for the pressures of fame. According to Julia, she is sweeter and less confident when she's not "portraying" Denise Julia.^[11]
