Polyporus Mcmurphyi is a mushroom-bearing species of fungi in the Polyporus genus, family Polyporaceae. It is found on or around dead, decaying wood primarily in California.[1][better source needed] Caps are scaled and orange, with a spongy underside whose texture continues along the stem, as is common in the genus. Fungivorous animals seek it out and eat it. Bottom of stalk occasionally bears an orange slime. Like related species, it has been shown to possess diuretic properties.[citation needed]
