Meg Mason is an Australian author and journalist. Her 2020 novel Sorrow and Bliss won the British Book Awards 2022 Fiction Book of the Year.

Career

Mason lived in the United Kingdom for five years during which time she wrote for the Financial Times and The Times before moving to Sydney and starting a career as a freelance journalist.[1] She has written for a number of magazines including Vogue, Elle and GQ.[1]

She published her first book Say It Again in a Nice Voice in 2012 and her first novel You Be Mother in 2017.[1] Sorrow and Bliss is Mason's third book and the first to be released in the UK.[1] It won the British Book Awards 2022 Fiction Book of the Year.[2] Her novel was also shortlisted for the Australian Book Industry Awards' Literary fiction book of the year in 2021 and the Women's Prize for Fiction in 2022.[1][3][4] Film and television rights for Sorrow and Bliss were sold to New Regency.[5]

Personal life

Mason lives in Sydney with her husband and two daughters.[6]
