Peter B. Rhines

Peter B. Rhines (born 23 July 1942) is an oceanographer at the University of Washington.

He got a BS from MIT in 1964 and a PhD from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1967.

He joined the University of Washington in 1984 and was professor there until he became emeritus in July 2017.[1]

One of his sons, Andy Rhines, obtained a PhD at Harvard University under Peter Huybers.

He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, American Geophysical Union and the American Meteorological Society. Former Fulbright Scholar, Universidad de Concepción, Chile; Guggenheim Fellow, Distinguished Visiting Research Fellow, Christ's College, Cambridge University, England.
