Two issues should be resolved for the list to be cogent:
- Should we add a section on the route from the Northern Europe (Varangians, Hansa) via Novgorod, Kazan/Bolghar, Astrakhan/Sarai, Derbent, and Khiva?? --Ghirlandajo 16:17, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
Better still, scrap this whole dreadful entry - "Silk road cities" are nothing more than an invention for ignorant tourists. It is embarrasingly inaccurate, for example most trade between Persia and Constantinople went through Trebizond and then by ship along the Black sea. Where is that mentioned in the silly little map? Hard to understand why Khiva (Uzbekistan) is not on the list. Surely it deserves to be included? By all accounts it was a major stop on the route. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Clivechafer (talk • contribs) 10:09, 26 January 2022 (UTC)
Tarim Basin
How important has a stop on the Silk Road be to be included here? And why are there included places beside the route? I am no expert on the significance of the towns, so see Tarim Basin#History for a (more) complete list of Silk Road stops in the Tarim Basin. I linked there all stops I could find in Wik.ipedia.Pro and on some maps. -- Tomdo08 (talk) 17:35, 18 April 2011 (UTC)
