I like how the article is developing. I've started with more of the technical aspects but will expand the article with more on journalism. Calicocat 12:49, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
I started this then found there was one on E.N.G. and another on Electronic Field Production. I see electronic field production as the master heading which would include Electronic journalim and news gathering. Eventually some kind of merge might be worked out. Some have even started using DNG for digital news gathering, but that would be a sub-heading of EJ and will be mentioned in this article. Calicocat 20:50, 21 May 2005 (UTC)
Some examples of improvements
Moved to talk, more a list than a section RJFJR (talk) 16:14, 24 August 2011 (UTC) Systems have improved, components have been made smaller and lighter and performance has greatly improved. Improvements have been made in image quality, colorimetry, lenses, and videotape technology. The following is a small list of improvements related to television news production.
- Early formats of videotape included 2 inch Quadruplex videotape, 1 inch videotape, MII videotape and 3/4 inch U-matic videotape. None of these are widely used today.
- Betacam Tape was popular from the mid 1980s until early 2000s. It is still used by some television stations today, but is being overtaken by digital videotape such as DVC Pro and MiniDV and Tapeless camcorders.
- 1080i/720p High Definition Video
- Charge-coupled device CCD Camera Technology
- (NLE), Avid NewsCutter, Avid NewsCutter XP,Avid Media Composer, Avid Xpress Pro, Final Cut Pro, Video Vegas
Proposed merger
Hi. Considering that "electronic journalism" and "electronic news gathering" are interchangeable terms, I propose that the articles are merged. A side benefit is that the general public might assume "electronic journalism" means online publishing etc, as opposed to using a digital video camera to record the story. So this merger also removes that ambiguity regarding the article name. Cheers, 1292simon (talk) 07:43, 19 November 2012 (UTC)
