Talk:George W. Bush Presidential Center

Completion Confusion

Its unclear if the library has been totally completed, it gives a date and talks of a ceremony, but much of the article is written in a way that points to a future date. Examples: "will be" and "Projected". Is this just because it hasn't been updated since opening? I'd be happy to change the tense but I don't want to cause a problem if its intentional. 23.240.131.64 (talk) 03:43, 6 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Size

This article states that it will be the second largest presidential library after Reagan's, but the article about reagan's library states that it remained the largest until Clinton's. So will the Bush library be the second largest behind Clinton's or the third largest behind Reagans? Dlmccaslin (talk) 19:12, 19 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Not definite until South Central Jurisdiction of the Methodist Church Signs Off

Despite the various announcements, this is still not a done deal until the South Central Jurisdiction of the Methodist Church approves this. The Jurisdiction which actually owns SMU will meet this summer. There is controversy within the church whether the bishops overstepped their bounds in approving the library. I made those edits on both the SMU and Methodist pages and sometime back but neglected to put them here also. I softened the lead to reflect the possibilty. As a rule of thumb no event in the future is ever definite until the key is turned and that's why there is usually a "future events" disclaimer on these types of articles. Americasroof (talk) 18:36, 2 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The paragraph describing the protests against building the library at SMU seems to be about the response of some SMU faculty rather than -- as the heading suggests -- the United Methodist Church. That being the case, I'm changing the heading until more detail specifically relating to the church organization can be added. McGehee (talk) 03:29, 14 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Need article

Stephen Payne (lobbyist).[1] Badagnani (talk) 22:17, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I've created the article, and will keep adding more info to it. Should the scandal around Payne telling Kyrgyz officials to donate to the library be in this article? I could see the sense in both its inclusion and exclusion. Otebig (talk) 05:14, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I really do not think that this should be placed in the article, nor do I believe there should be a link to it's page. This seems promotional and does not seem to fall into the guidelines regarding what the "See Also" section should be used for. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mrzubrow (talkcontribs) 04:15, 5 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Golf tournament

The section on the golf tourney seems wildly out-of-place, as a subhead under "Policy Institute". The section gives no information as to why the section is even in the article: Is it held at the library? Is it sponsored by the Policy Institute? Does W just show up from time to time? It needs some fleshing-out. 174.57.199.184 (talk) 19:39, 1 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

name of page

thinking this article should be name George W. Bush Pres library and museum like the other presidential libraries are known as Smith03 (talk)

Question, here is what is the facilities common name? This is the relevant guideline.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 20:07, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
George W. Bush Presidential Center has 156 million hits, and George W. Bush Presidential Library has 52.9 million hits, so the current name appears to follow the guideline.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 20:10, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Where's the controversy

I heard that the Decision Points feature is controversial because it presents a choice at points George W. Bush is widely regarded to have made the wrong choice at, and says something along the lines of "George Bush didn't do that" and then presents a speech from Bush. But there is no mention of this or other controversy in the article.Alexschmidt711 (talk) 20:14, 17 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This article's subject is not about George W. Bush, but about the building and center which is the focus of this article. "Controversies" about the 43rd president, unless it directly relates to the center or building, IMHO does not belong in this article. The last thing we need is this article devolve into an attack article.--RightCowLeftCoast (talk) 14:06, 18 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Location of the Presidential Center

Evidently, someone got confused recently and changed this article to show that the George W. Bush Presidential Center is on the TAMU campus in College Station. In fact, this George W. Bush's center is on the SMU campus near Dallas. George H. W. Bush's center is on the TAMU campus. Maybe that is why there is confusion. Just wanted to clear it up here before I undo that edit.
