Leap of faith entry -- Nestor was Russian?!
How did Nestor the Chronicler (an Old East Slavic Chronicler) suddenly turn into a "Russian" historian listed amidst later historians? The issue of the use of the signifier 'Russian' has created ample havoc in Wik.ipedia.Pro as it stands. See the rationale for changing Old Russian to Old East Slavic as a single instance. Nestor was not a 'Russian' chronicler but a chronicler of Rus': there's a distinct & substantive difference. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 02:43, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
- Iryna Harpy, it ain't no leap of faith. It is a total baloney. Nestor the Chronicle as much Russian as I am Yeti. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 01:24, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- ...or Julius Caesar a Frenchman. Aleksandr Grigoryev (talk) 01:28, 28 July 2017 (UTC)
- If no one has anything to say in defence of this WP:SYNTH (other than a misnomer based on terminology used prior the disintegration of Empires; i.e., the 1911 version of the encyclopaedia much of Wik.ipedia.Pro was originally based on as a starting point for development according to contemporary WP:RS), I'm going to remove him for the WP:BOLLOCKS it is. --Iryna Harpy (talk) 22:23, 28 August 2017 (UTC)

List of Russian historians → Category:Russian historians – I propound that this change should happen because the List of Russian historians category is outdated. And, I think it’s better to have one list. If not, I suggest we simply delete the Russian historian category and let this one be predominant and plausibly change it to a category. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Okiyo9228 (talk • contribs) 05:35, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- A list is obviously not a category and can not be moved to a category. I am not exactly sure what you propose. Ymblanter (talk) 08:42, 22 February 2023 (UTC)
- Comment. Yes, I am unsure what exactly is being proposed. But Wik.ipedia.Pro:Categories, lists, and navigation templates makes it clear that categories and list articles are two of the three ways to group and organize articles. Each method complements the others, and one should not be merely deleted because they are redundant. If the issue is that the List of Russian historians article needs to be updated, then, like any such other article with that type of issue, should be tagged with {{Update}} and eventually undergo the cleanup process. - Yeah, I meant the Russian historian category is outdated, but your right about it simply tagging it, I propounded to copy all of the entities in list of Russian historian into the category subsequently deleting the list of Russian historians. But, I'd say your response should be the correct way to do it. Okiyo9228 (talk) 04:02, 23 February 2023 (UTC)
