Talk:The New Jedi Order

Interviews

In the interviews included at the end of the paperback edition of the last book (The Unifying Force), they say that the series was planned so that the "critical" plot elements occur in the hardcover novels... seeming to suggest that a fan that does not want to read all 19 books could, instead, just read the ones that came out in hardcover. It's hard to tell from the interview whether this plan was implemented or abandoned: if it is true that one could read just the hardcovers, perhaps those particular "critical" volumes should be noted here?

canon

Into which of the four canons (G-canon, C-canon, S-canon, N-canon) does the New Jedi Order series fall? Scorpionman 16:46, 24 Jun 2005 (UTC)

C-canon. The Wookieepedian 05:52, 26 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Plot Spoilers

I think the plot spoilers should be moved onto a different page. Yes, there is a warning, but it's really hard to avert your eyes and not read the bottom of the page. If you want to see the information, you could click on a link. Are character deaths so important that they have to be on the primary page for the New Jedi Order?

The question is, are character deaths so important that they warrant their own article? – Mipadi 18:00, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Humans in New Jedi Order

Why are their more human members of the new jedi Order then Aliens? It just seem to be that way since I look but at the Masters' Council and i saw most members look human then non-human.So is this due to the lasting effects of the late Galactic empire(which had recotonly knew to've brainwash some of their citizen with anti-Alien philosphy.)? Or something more accuated? Thanks.

Actually there are more aliens but authors find humans more interesting so they write about them more. Jedi6 03:00, 29 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Character Deaths

Mon Mothma died somewhere between 24 ABY and 25 ABY. It might have been between The Young Jedi Knights Series and Vector Prime or in Vector Prime itself. It was never specified.

Nom Anor might be coming back in the Legacy of the Force as hinted by Shaprio(is that how you spell her name).

Shedao Shai died in Dark Tide II. Jedi6 03:09, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Mon Mothma died before Vector Prime. Shedao Shai was hardly a major character; he was central to one book and appeared briefly in another, and is then scarcely referenced again. I sincerely hope that Nom Anor returns, but so far there is nothing in canon to support this, so as far as the facts are concerned he is dead. Jon Hart 04:03, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Shedao Shai is a major character. True he was only in two books but he was important. He was the reason the Yuuzhan Vong got a foothold in the galaxy and was part of the destruction of Ithor. Jedi6 21:06, 2 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I love Shedao Shai, but the fact is that, important as he was to the invasion, from an out-of-universe viewpoint he was a relatively minor player in the grand scheme of things. Yomin Carr and Prefect Da'Gara were important in Vector Prime, Mezhan Kwaad and Vua Rapuung were important in Conquest, Czulkang Lah was important in the Enemy Lines books, Khalee Lah was important in Dark Journey. However, they were all summarily killed off, thus limiting their influence on broader events (except for Vua Rapuung). Shedao Shai is the same: a particular author's pet Vong. Cool, important, but, in the broad scale of out-of-universe notability, he is not. Jon Hart 00:33, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll agree with that logic Jedi6 02:46, 4 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What book did Lyric die in? Jedi6 05:38, 17 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Star By Star. Jon Hart 22:27, 6 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Some of those characters should get an honourable mention. Vua Rapuung's honourabel death did seed the grain of hope among the Samed caste. Czulkang Lah did pull some weight in the Yuuzhan Vong camp, the same for Shedao Shai and Prefect Da'Gara. Of course there "On screen" time was in the end of minor importance, their faction influence was far from minimal.Dryzen 14:35, 6 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Also in the death of existing characters - some of those characters weren't existing before. Ganner Rhysode and Wurth Skidder never appeared in Union. As for Vergere yes she did appear in Rogue Planet, but that book was published after her first appearance in the NJO novels. Abrynkus 21:49, 22 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Move request

Similarly to Clone Wars, this page should be moved to New Jedi Order, in according with Wik.ipedia.Pro naming conventions. – Mipadi 17:02, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Oppose. NC expressly mandates the "The" should be included in titles of works. Alai 18:21, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. The Wik.ipedia.Pro naming conventions cleary state, "If the definite or indefinite article article would be capitalized in running text, then include it at the beginning of the page name. Otherwise, do not include it at the beginning of the page name." LuiKhuntek 18:46, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Like previously said the official title is The New Jedi Order. Jedi6 21:20, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. For the same reason as User:Jedi6. The Wookieepedian 22:04, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. cargobay.starwars.com, for example, refers to it as New Jedi Order. Rarely would it be referred to in text as The New Jedi Order. It's normally referred to as "…the New Jedi Order novel…" or "in the New Jedi Order series of novels…" or "…the New Jedi Order character…" It wouldn't be capitalized in running text, and the naming conventions specify that it should not be included. Most writers on Wik.ipedia.Pro also link to it as New Jedi Order, because it's unnatural to capitalize the the in the name. Many of the links that point to The New Jedi Order are piped, or were changed after the move, which indicates it is more natural and logical to link to New Jedi Order. – Mipadi 23:39, 4 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
    • That page also mangles the titles from the way they're referred to elsewhere, so it doesn't seem a great guide. Obviously it's natural to drop or decapitalise the "the" when it's being used attributively, but that's always the case when a title starts with "the". e.g. "the Times" journalist" or "a Times journalist", not "The Times journalist", but the article's still at The Times (and correctly so). If NJO is the title of a work, and the "The" is part of that title, this article name is correct. If it's not, then the lead of the article's incorrect in its style, so start by fixing that. If this is just the description of a series, which forms part of the title of its components, then it shouldn't be italicised, etc. Alai 02:31, 5 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I concur with all the oppose votes above. —Nightstallion (?) 09:43, 9 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Sernpidal/Anakin/Jacen (not all together)

First off: I think I horribly mangled the description of what happened on Sernpidal; I also don't remember the thread or author responsible. If anyone does, please add it. Second: While I'm fairly certain that I've seen Lucasfilm employees confirm the "no two Anakins" directive, I'm not certain enough to say that for sure. Again, if anyone can verify, that would be great. Third: Would it be appropriate to mention the "Jacen is a Sith lord in training" theory here? The seeds were definitely planted in the NJO, and some of Jacen's foremost haters were really ragging on him back then, but it seems that it's become much bigger since the Dark Nest books came out. So I just don't know. Stilgar135 05:52, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I removed all the wild speculation. There is no reference to all that fan speculation. Jedi6-(need help?) 20:16, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You'd be amenable to putting it back with refereces? Stilgar135 20:31, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes but a lot of it should go on different pages, like the anaking stuff on his Wik.ipedia.Pro page. Jedi6-(need help?) 20:34, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sernpidal definitely belongs here: it's a clear NJO issue. I would also argue that Marakin belongs here because it involves more than Anakin. The Slayers and Lucas directive I can see going on Anakin's page. I'll go hunting through the tf.n archives for those threads. Stilgar135 20:39, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The anakin died because Lucas said so is actually true, it was said in an interview. But you are going to have to provide a reference that shows many fans beleived it not just one or two. Jedi6-(need help?) 20:42, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
But that's not the claim. Marakin isn't prominent because a lot of people believe in it; it's prominent because of the intensity and passion behind the debate, which makes it an excellent example of fannish reaction. Stilgar135 20:51, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Then a rewording is needed like "Many fans went into heated debates about The New Jedi Order like when fans argued about whether Anakin was Ben's father....." The problem is there are hundreds of debates like this. Try finding those links and then we will see Jedi6-(need help?) 21:00, 11 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Force Addiction

Have you noticed not only are the Jedi are dependant on the force using it above there voices even but Lukes ignored alot of Jedia wisdom theres a reason so many things the Old Order had were there so I think something bads going to happen to the New Order.

  • After reading The Darknests I am even more firmly conviced of this his having families is the reason anaakin rebelled family is bad for a jedi though not bad for a sith.

Chewie- Revenge of the Sith

By that logic, shouldn't Borsk's first appearance become Wedge's Gamble, or Ackbar's the Infinities comic where Tarkin and Vader are discussing the Death Star? Stilgar135 00:46, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I always thought of "Introduction" as the first book, movie, etc., in order of publish date, not chronological date. – Mipadi 01:49, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Books & relevances

Not being an expert on the subject, but the fact that an e-book on Boba Fett being near the top the list seems a little disorganised... If it's not meant to be in the list at all someone please remove it..._> MonstaPro:Talk:Contrib. 00:13, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It's set in that part of the NJO story so therfore its put in that area.--Cody6 (talk) 21:06, 10 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Merging individual book articles

I think all the individual volumes of the series should be merged to this article, with only a paragraph or two summarizing anything relevant. They're pretty much drawn-out, unsourced plot summaries (likely copied from Wookieepedia). Compressing such articles has worked pretty well for individual Legends novels dealing with the same character (e.g. Boba Fett and Darth Maul). UpdateNerd (talk) 09:10, 5 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Something wrong with media section

The media section seems like never ending paragraph.-- KEmel49 (talk) 19:01, 10 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
