Contradiction in source article concerning water use in Puerto Cortes

Some of the data found in IDRC (2006) on Puerto Cortes seem contradictory. The paper says that total water production increased, while other data indicate that it must have decreased. Data indicating increase in water production: daily water production in the same period increased from 14,500 m3 to 35,000 m3 (+142%).

Data indicating decrease in water production: Final water consumption per connection decreased from 53 m3 per month in 1995 to 34 m3 per month in 2004 (+36%). Furthermore, non-revenue water decreased from 40% to 25%, meaning that less water needs to be pumped into the system to supply a given quantity of water to consumers. In the same period water coverage increased from 82% to 98% (+20%), a much smaller increase than the decrease in final water consumption per connection. Even if an population growth is taken into account (+42% over 9 years if the annual growth rate was 4%), it seems that water production should only have increased slightly, but the massive increase in water production seems to be in contradiction with the above data.--Mschiffler (talk) 15:21, 10 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
