I have just removed a major spoiler from the template. An election takes place in episode 11 of the show, and someone decided to reveal the outcome of that election by adding "Mayor" to the name of the winner in this template. I'm sure I don't have to explain why this was a bad idea. Pat Berry 01:58, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

Third Opinion
I've been asked to give a third opinion on the issue of the names in the template. Quite simply, it shouldn't be there, not from a spoiler point of view, but from a style point of view, as none of the other characters have any form of title in the template, making this one stick out, and as the character in question doesn't become mayor until the last episode of the current series, it seems rather moot. --Scott Wilson 17:01, 29 December 2006 (UTC)
Deputies
I've re-added the deputies, as they are characters in Jericho, and they seem to be notable enough to have their own articles. As such, they're a valid entry in this template. I have, however, never seen Jericho (being a Scot), so they may genuinely be minor characters, and not warranting their own articles, but the place to decide that is at the articles themselves (perhaps through an AfD) rather than at this template, which still leaves an orphaned article. --Scott Wilson 12:35, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Left this at User:Ckatz talk page: "If they are minor or main is your POV, most shows have title screens showing the main characters, Jericho does not, in this case characters are just characters (giving them any sort of status would require a citation then), and I'm pretty sure they've also been in the credits." thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 12:37, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Two comments, two answers. Scott, it's not a question of notability so much as it is whether or not the characters are considered "main characters". Generally speaking, series articles list the main characters, as opposed to every actor who appears in a role. Minor roles are listed as such; in the case of Jericho, there is a list at List of Jericho characters#Minor Characters. According to CBS, the deputies don't appear to be main characters - the official Jericho web site doesn't even list them under "Cast". I've never said that the articles should go, only that the characters shouldn't be presented as being major roles akin to the regulars. (The articles aren't orphaned, in any case, as links to them have been added to many of the Jericho articles.) As for Matthew's statement, it's not "POV" when the official website backs up my position. I'd have to say that is a stronger citation than "I'm pretty sure they've also been in the credits." Anyways, it's not worth fighting over, but there should be some sort of community consensus. --Ckatzchatspy 17:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- Other templates don't link to minor characters because they generally don't have independent articles. Templates like this are for linking all the related articles in an easy-to-use format- i.e. a single click will take from any one article to any other. The articles on the deputies are related to Jericho, hence they should be in the template, regardless of how major their characters are. The only reason for not including them would be if there was no article solely on them. --Scott Wilson 18:22, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

- Well, I have to disagree, since it is questionable as to whether the characters even deserve articles. Additionally, the editor who is adding the names is the same one who was involved in the creation of the articles, and who has been linking them throughout the Jericho pages. However, it's not something to revert and re-revert over - I'll open a discussion on the main talk page to seek consensus as to how to treat minor characters. (I'd like Matthew to explain his comment, though - how exactly does the "template makes differential between main and supporting"?) --Ckatzchatspy 18:56, 4 January 2007 (UTC)
- I made a typo "The template makes [no] differential" thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 19:00, 4 January 2007 (UTC)

Revised template
Seeing as this thing has been virtually ignored for a while, I took the liberty of completely redoing it. I organized the listing of characters in a much more organized fashion (including by season), and added a few other things, such as Jennings & Rall. Anyone care to add anything else? --Fightingirish (talk) 15:10, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for reworking it... a few thoughts, though. One, I've restored the full list of main characters, as that is determined by studio contracts, not by departure from the show, popularity, or number of appearances. Secondly, the "first" and "second season" sections do need reworking, as the current wording suggests those characters are not supporting roles. --Ckatzchatspy 16:41, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
