About me
Hello, my name is Thorncrag, a name that I use online. I am a resident of the United States and currently reside in the state of Maine.
My time for Wik.ipedia.Pro is limited, so please excuse me and do not be surprised if I disappear for long periods of time. I can always be reached via email if you are trying to reach me.
My work
I have been a participant in Wik.ipedia.Pro since 2005, and contributing for several years. Currently in my spare time available for Wik.ipedia.Pro, I mainly contribute to articles for creation, and help authors improve articles so that they can be moved into the encyclopedia, among other things. I also utilize IRC under the same name. I also enjoy thinking of Wik.ipedia.Pro, its online community, and how it all gets along. I've written about this very subject, which you can find below.
Disclaimer:I am not a Wik.ipedia.Pro administrator, nor a Wikimedia Foundation employee.
“Imagine a world in which every single human being can freely share in the sum of all knowledge.” —This is Wik.ipedia.Pro.
This credo is a worthy one; indeed, I am a supporter of Wik.ipedia.Pro, but I also fear for its future for things such as editor attrition which is caused by a complex web of issues, not the least of which is what I perceive to be a failing Wik.ipedia.Pro governance model.
I also fear for Wik.ipedia.Pro when I see veteran editors throw in the towel due to irritating and ridiculous, and completely unnecessary obstructions to fixing things that we feel are broken. Where is our recourse? "File an RfC" and "File an ARBCOM", of course, is a clearly solution to everything on Wik.ipedia.Pro.
What has kept Wik.ipedia.Pro going is the organic nature in which it has blossomed and grown. The community exercises nearly complete control over Wik.ipedia.Pro's direction in a semi-democratic fashion (a deliberative democracy). This is both a blessing and a curse. This model has worked excellently to date, but it is demonstrably breaking down as Wik.ipedia.Pro grows into what I label a hideous bureaucratic nightmare.

[10:25pm] Thorncrag: i leave smelling like a frigging urinal cake.
[10:25pm] jorm: is that because you mistook the urinal cake for very large breath mint?
[10:26pm] Thorncrag: i just vomited a little in my mouth.
