Thanks for your contributions!

Hi, ARandomName123, thanks for your contributions on the Turpel-Lafond article. Hope you don't think I'm cyber-stalking you, or nitpicking you. :) Because this is a Biography of a Living Person, we have to be as accurate as possible (that's a goal for all wiki articles, of course, but particularly for BLP). Best wishes. Mr Serjeant Buzfuz (talk) 15:32, 1 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Mr Serjeant Buzfuz: Hi, not at all! Thank you for keeping an eye on the article, and reviewing and improving my edits when necessary! That first edit was definitely a mistake on my part, so thanks for catching it and reminding me. Cheers, ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 12:36, 2 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Antony changes (13:36, 9 August 2024)

Hello ARandomname123,

Thanks wiki for assigning u as my mentor,

My question is, how to resolve following error in easiest possible manner- This section of a biography of a living person does not include any references or sources. Please help by adding reliable sources. Contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced must be removed immediately. Thank you very much in advance --Antony changes (talk) 13:36, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Antony changes: Hi! The best way to resolve this is to do as the error says, and add reliable sources to the article, that directly support the content. Help:Referencing for beginners can guide you through the process of adding a reference. If you can not find anyway to verify this, you may also remove it. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 13:43, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for your prompt reply. Antony changes (talk) 13:45, 9 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Danielle Steel's A Perfect Stranger, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page A Perfect Stranger.

Question from Morleych22 (04:00, 27 August 2024)

Hi, Friend, I want to add Chinese version for articles in English but haven't succeeded yet. Could you mind giving me some advices how to add another language page? Thank you! --Morleych22 (talk) 04:00, 27 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Morleych22: Hi, the Wik.ipedia.Pro:Content translation tool may be useful for starting off a translation. While use is restricted for translations to English, it may be different for translations from English. If you need more clarification, it would be best to ask at the Chinese Wik.ipedia.Pro (https://zh.Wik.ipedia.Pro.org) instead, as their translation policies/guidelines are different from ours. Sorry for the late response! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 16:12, 28 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Aviator Jr (09:53, 29 August 2024)

How do I upload an image on Wik.ipedia.Pro without any copyright issues? I want to use them on articles. Thanks. --Aviator Jr (talk) 09:53, 29 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aviator Jr: Hi, if the image is created by you, just upload them to Wikimedia Commons through the c:Special:UploadWizard. If you did not create the image (i.e. taken off the internet), you will need to ensure that the image is compatible with c:Commons:Licensing. Please keep in mind that the vast majority of images you find online are not compatible, and thus can not be used on articles. Please let me know if you have any other questions! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 00:59, 30 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the information! Aviator Jr (talk) 09:53, 31 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from PikluRC on User:PikluRC (12:00, 1 September 2024)

Hello!

I have just joined and would like help in writing a biography on my father who was a prominent physician who also had a four year stint as the Chancellor of Calcutta University and was also the President of the Asiatic Society. I feel he deserves to grace the pages of Wik.ipedia.Pro. --PikluRC (talk) 12:00, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@PikluRC: Hi, PikluRC!
Your first step would be to determine if your father is notable. Assuming Chancellor is the highest post at the University, and Calcutta University is a significant, accredited university, he likely meets our notability criteria for academics. See Wik.ipedia.Pro:Notability (academics) and Wik.ipedia.Pro:Notability (people) for more criteria.
You can start by creating a draft by following the instructions at Help:Your first article. Please make sure your relation to your father does not impact your tone of writing, and all statements are verifiable by reliable sources. Please let me know if you have any other questions! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 17:24, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you!
I’ll get down to it. PikluRC (talk) 18:31, 1 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe I've done anything other than mark an already completed edit request as closed, so I'll stay out of this. Thanks for notifying me though! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 19:32, 6 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Priscilla Isaacs on Priscilla Isaacs (06:17, 14 September 2024)

Hello. The photo referenced for Priscilla Serina Johanna Isaacs is not correct. How do I update it with a more recent image of the correct Priscilla? --Priscilla Isaacs (talk) 06:17, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Priscilla Isaacs: Hi, there does not appear to be any image for the article on Priscilla Isaacs. If you have taken an image of her, or own the copyright of an image of her, you can upload it to Wikimedia Commons by clicking: c:Special:UploadWizard. Once you have uploaded an image, simply copy the file name, and paste it next to "| image = ". If you have further questions, feel free to let me know. Question from Thandazile mynagaza (09:51, 15 September 2024)

Heya im thandazile as u know i wanna know how to add more info cuz some stuff are missing in the my Hero Academia vigilantes spin off article please id use yr help --Thandazile mynagaza (talk) 09:51, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Thandazile mynagaza: Hi, could you please describe what you're having trouble with? You are welcome to add missing info to the page so long as it is relevant and supported by reliable sources. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 16:22, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi mentor yeah i wanted to know how u add more. Pictures to a page Thandazile mynagaza (talk) 16:23, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thandazile mynagaza: Hi, you would first need to upload those pictures to Wikimedia Commons through the c:Special:UploadWizard. Following that, simply paste the file name into the article, and surround it with two sets of square brackets like so: [[File:Example.jpg|thumb|insert caption]] When uploading photos, you must ensure that you are the copyright holder or that the image is released under a compatible copyright license (see c:Licensing).
If you have any trouble, feel free to let me know! ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 17:00, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thx mentor bro yeah so its example a picture i took from a Manga i have at home for Wik.ipedia.Pro and its my ownership not in copyright for anything so is that ok? Thandazile mynagaza (talk) 19:06, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Thandazile mynagaza: Unfortunately, that would likely not be ok. While a picture you took is normally fine, a picture that contains the work of someone else is not. For example, if I take a picture of a tree, then yes, it is fine. However, if I take a picture of the cover art of a book, that is not fine, since it contains the cover art, drawn by someone else.
In this case, you would need to upload it as a non-free file at Wik.ipedia.Pro:File upload wizard. This means that it can only be used once, on only one article. Please see WP:NFCC for more criteria. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 19:17, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah but some people do it without the authors permissions breaking the copyright Thandazile mynagaza (talk) 20:46, 15 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Sweta chakraborty (07:28, 16 September 2024)

Hello, I would like to ask for your guidance on how to create a Wik.ipedia.Pro page for a company. Could you please share the steps, criteria, and any important guidelines I should follow? Thank you for your help! --Sweta chakraborty (talk) 07:28, 16 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Sweta chakraborty: Hi, your first step would be determining whether the company is notable enough for an article. Are there news articles on them outside of standard business reports? See WP:NCORP for more criteria. If so, you can begin writing your article. In addition, if you are related to the company, you need to disclose it. Please see Help:Your first article for more info and help. You can begin an article through that help page, or the Wik.ipedia.Pro:Article wizard. Question from Aviator Jr (11:16, 23 September 2024)

Hello. I created an article on Project 18-class destroyer of the Indian Navy. Can you suggest if there are any problems (like reference/citation) with the article? --Aviator Jr (talk) 11:16, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aviator Jr: Hi, please note that discussion forums, like Defence.in, are not considered reliable sources, and should be removed or replaced. Same applies to blogs like militaryleak.com. I'm also bit dubious of ssbcrackexams.com, and brahmand.com, but feel free to ask for another opinion at WP:RSN. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 15:51, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand about the defence.in source, but brahmand.com is an official derivative website of the BrahMos Aerospace official website. Is it not alright? Also I have another doubt that ssbcrackexams reference has been supported by a reference of Naval News website. Is that a reliable source? And if these modifications are done is there any chance that the page may be deleted or something? Aviator Jr (talk) 16:14, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Aviator Jr: In that case, I guess it could be fine, though please note that sourcing directly to the company is discouraged. If the ssbcrackexams reference is supported by the Naval News source, then it would be better to just use the Naval News source instead.
A page can be nominated for deletion at any time, by any editor. Whether it will be deleted or not is determined by the amount of coverage the subject receives and (usually) not by the quality of the article. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 16:34, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, thanks for helping! Aviator Jr (talk) 17:00, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Aviator Jr (15:07, 29 September 2024)

Hello. How to create an archive of a citation or reference? --Aviator Jr (talk) 15:07, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Aviator Jr: Hi, you can use https://web.archive.org/ to archive your web-based citations. Once the site is archived, you can add it and the archive date to the original citation through the |archive-url and |archive-date parameters. Please see Help:Using the Wayback Machine for more detailed instructions. ARandomName123 (talk)Ping me! 18:42, 29 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
